Brasil 2015

I wonder if anyone reads this at all. I kind of like the idea that no one does. It gives me the freedom to write whatever what I want without worrying I may be boring you.

I spent the first 20 days in January in Brasil. This will be my third trip in three years. I got to spend some time with my cousins who I have not seen in over 6 years, which was wonderful. It feels weird when you don’t see a child for a long time and the next time you see them they have grown so much. My cousin who was 11 when I last saw her, is now applying to colleges . How is that even possible? When I saw her last, I spent 6 weeks with her watching Hannah Montana and now she is planning to be an engineer. It’s amazing how time passes and people grow and change, but are still exactly the same. It’s very strange.

I spent my trip on the border of Uruguay and Brasil in a town I’ve never been too before. I absolutely loved it. I usually go visit an aunt on the border of Brasil and Argentina but that town is not as exciting or fun. Despite my workaholic ways, I was glad to unwind for a bit and have a good time. I hope to make another trip down there later in the year. It was nice to go get ice cream all the time and watch trashy TV. The weather was warm and I was very happy to get away from the snow in Chicago!

Sometimes I wonder if I could survive in a foreign country. I’ve always wanted to spend six months in a different place. I don’t think it will ever happen, but it is definitely something I would like to try. I love to travel and I’m okay trying new things. I spent six weeks in Palestine in 2008 and loved it. I get homesick of course, but the idea of trying a different way of life is so exciting. I think I would like to stay somewhere where I speak the language so I can become more fluent in the language. I would also like to be somewhere where I have some family. I have tons of little cousins and I love to spend time with them. The problem is that I have a full time job and obviously cannot take off six months to go live in a foreign country. I wonder if there will be a time where I can travel the world for long periods of time and visit places I haven’t seen yet. I guess we will see.
