If You Ain’t Got No Money, Take Your Broke Ass Home!

Sorry for not posting outfits this weekend, I have been moving all weekend!

I have been so busy I am posting from the eL today. My friend Amiga (obviously a fake name) has a job interview tomorrow so everyone wish her luck!!

So now with the World Cup over I am sad and unsure of what to do with my time. I understand that they can’t have the World Cup every year (it might be considered overkill to other people), but how about every two years? I think that is a fair compromise. I should contact FIFA President Sepp Blatter about that.

So I dislike being treated like an idiot and being lied to by a company. Since I am moving I had to transfer my cable and Internet to my new house… Easy peasy right? WRONG! The technician who came out couldn’t do the job on his own, called his supervisor and scheduled an appointment tocome out the next day (Sunday). Sunday comes without a technician. I call and schedule another appointment for Monday. No one came out Monday. I called again today and found out that they put in tickets but that doesn’t guarantee they will come out. They will be here Thursday supposedly but we will see.

Anyway, here are my outfits for the last few days. I’m sorry I do not have an outfit from yesterday (Monday) because I fell asleep before I had a chance to snap a photo.

Thursday I wore this lace turtleneck from Express in dark gray. As many of you probably know (or will learn) I LOVE Express turtleneck tees. They are a staple in my wardrobe and can be dressed up or down. I am wearing jeans from Delia’s and my Aldo sandals.

Little known fact: I like sailor themed outfits. They are fun and always cute. Friday I decided to wear a sailor themed outfit since I hadn’t put one together in a long time. My blue and white striped dress is from Express and I paired it with a thick red belt. I also chose to wear white tights and white flats to keep it appropriate for the office. Thanks to my coworker for taking this photo of me. To top off my outfit I put on a silver key necklace I bought while in Brasil and my Betsey Johnson Fleur De Lis earrings (not pictured). Yes I know I look a little chunky in this photo but I wanted to show you the full outfit.

Sunday I had a wedding for my friend Y’s cousin. The below photo has my eyes closed but you can see the beauty of my outfit regardless. My amazing green dress is by London Times and I decided to pair it with gold accessories. My gold gladiator heels we purchased from Aldo (on sale) and though they aren’t in this photo I had a gold clutch from Express and wore real gold jewelry. I even wore my favorite gold piece, my kef. It’s an Arabic piece of jewelry that has a bracelet connected to a ring. If you want an awkward vision think of those people who have nose rings connected to their earrings. It’s like that — but not. My mother gave it to me for my 15th birthday and I just started wearing it again.

That’s all I got for today. Did you like my outfits?

WARNING: This is mostly a soccer post.

So I can’t believe the World Cup FINAL match is on Sunday. I have been
waiting impatiently for four years for the World Cup. It’s a really
big deal to me obviously.

I have thrown all my support behind David Villa and Espana. Yes, I
admit it- I’m holding a grudge against the Dutch. I don’t want them to
win because they sent home my team (Brasil). No I am not dumb, Brasil
is actually correctly spelled with an S not a Z. Anyway, I still hold
a grudge against France from 2006 and was happy to see how quickly
they went home. The pitch isn’t a place for Divas so France and
(though I hate to admit it) England needed to go home and remember
what it means to play in a World Cup.

It is weird because I have been thinking of the last Cup lately and
how different everything is. I was going into my second year of
college and watched almost every game at my patents store. I would ask
my mom to take me so I wouldn’t sleep through the morning games. I
used to think about waiting another four years for Brasil to be on top
again and how different life would be for me in four years. Would I be
happy? Working in PR? Would I still have the same friends? My life is
different than I expected, but still the same. It’s strange and I wish
I could explain more.

Either way, I hope Espana rocks this final, at the very least David
Villa deserves it (even if he does play for Barcelona). So on Sunday I
will be unreachable by phone, email or text, will sport my Real Madrid
jersey and hopefully will be celebrating all day.

Who are you rooting for on Sunday?

I ain’t in no hurry, you go run and tell your friends I’m losing touch

Hello Everyone! As a prelude let me just tell you I am updating from my phone so excuse spelling errors — my phone can’t catch everything.

I have photos to share today!

But first let me update you on my Fourth of July weekend. We had a barbeque at our new house on Sunday even though we aren’t moved in yet. I didn’t have work on Monday and my mom, sister and I went to Ikea. There were so many people there I couldn’t believe it! I have never been there so it was interesting. We didn’t even get to the furniture upstairs because we HAD to leave.

I feel like I am about to start a new chapter in my life. My internship is almost over, I’m moving and my birthday is coming up soon. My cousins should be coming back from the Middle East soon as well and I’m really excited! I haven’t seen them in months so it will be nice.

Anyways…

So let’s see first was my maxi from Friday! Yes, I did it and actually wore a long dress. It’s super nice and I actually got it from JCPenney last year but never wore because I have an irrational dislike of long casual dresses. The top was slightly inappropriate for the office so I had to put a shirt on under it. I wore an owl necklace from Charlotte Russe and my Aldo gladiator sandals (not pictured).

Img_0147Img_0144

I didn’t bother to take pictures this weekend because my outfits were tshirts and capris everyday and I didn’t have 2 minutes to take a photo.

My sister purchases these amazing sandals from Discovery and I absolutely had to wear them on Tuesday. In case you can’t see them in the photo, they have little golden balls on them and a scrunchie slingback. I worked my entire outfit around them. I wore a gold tanktop that I think I purchased from JC Penney a couple years ago and pull out every so often. I wore dark jeans from Delia’s (of course). I obviously could not wear a tank top to work so I covered up with a purple shrug I got from the Middle East. I complimented it with purple circle earrings (they are circles not hoops) and my Juicy charm bracelet.

Img_0154

Today I decided to go a traditionally fashionable route and based my outfit on Jackie O or for those who don’t know that’s Jackie Kennedy. Yes, I did explain to my coworker that I was talking about Jackie Kennedy when I said Jackie O.

I wore a black and white dress from Forever 21 with white flats (not shown sorry but I’ll take a picture of them eventually). I wore a white tank top under the dress to cover up the slit inthe front. I also chose to wear my real pearl necklace and bracelet but put on these little flower earrings (not pictured). I have had them so long I have no idea where I got them.

What did you do or wear for the Fourth?

I have a lot going on!!

?

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a week. I have been crazy busy. My best friend got married last weekend and I’ve got some big deadlines I am trying to meet (for work and life).

?

So one of my best friends got martied on Sunday and it was a very happy and sad experience. It’s happy because she is one of my closest friends and she’s happy, so obviously I am happy for her. But it’s actually very sad to think that everything is going to be different now and she isn’t the 18 year old that you started hanging out with a few years back. I still can’t get over that one of my best friends is now married! It’s crazy! There will definitely be pictures, but I’ll do that in another post :)?

?

I’m also moving soon! We have started painting and buying things like a fridge and patio set but no luck with a perfect bedroom set. Here are some pictures though so you can see the early stages.

My yellow closet!

So finally my outfits!!

Monday I wore a tank top from Express and a cute knee-length khaki pencil skirt. The skirt ripped a little so I changed into jeans before I went shopping with my mom. And yes, my hair is left over from the wedding.

?

Img_0132

?

Tuesday I found a pair of khaki capris I forgot I bought. I figured I may as well wear them because the weather was warm. WRONG! I froze! Anyway I paired it with a see-through hippie vest and a brown t shirt.

I have a ton more to say but that will do for one post.

E’s Wedding and Y’s Bridal Shower and Henna

So as some of you may know I am Arabic, which means a ton of engagement parties, Henna parties, bridal showers and of course weddings. One big thing I would like to do in this blog is help young women find different ways ?to cover up. Cover up you ask- But why? For example, being Arabic I have to dress modestly and it’s not appropriate for me to wear spaghetti straps to a wedding (I usually have a shirt under or a cardigan over). I am not saying you won’t see me in tanks every so often, because I am sure you will. I hope this can inspire some girls to find the right way to “cover up”.?So here are a few pics of my adorable dresses (including a traditional arabic thobe) and my friends.?

?

Img_0213

Me and Y at her Shower. No, it is not actually zebra, its just black and white striped. Can you guess where I got it from? Haha.

?

Img_0344

Me with the beautiful bride E. As you might be able to see here, my gorgeous Sean Collection dress is cut down the front J.Lo-style. I didn’t have the heart to close it up with some fabric, so I just went on a search until I found the perfect shirt to wear under it. My mom and I hunted everywhere, but got lucky and found it at Rave Girl.?

Img_0389

Here is one without the shirt, so you can see how awesome it would look. BTW, Sean Collection is my FAVE dress designer. I have 4 dresses by them and would buy 100 more if I could afford too.?

?

?

This is me and my friend H at Y’s Henna Part. I am wearing a traditional Arabic Thobe with a modern twist to it. It is usually worn on Henna parties by the bride’s family or close friends. I own 3 and I really like them. When I was younger I hated them, but of course I grew into my awesome fashion sense and learned how to make traditional fashionable.

?

So what do you guys think? Do you like the traditional Arabic Thobe? Do you have any awesome cultural outfits you absolutely love??

?

?

?

?

Ah!!! First blog post!!

So here it is! My first official blog post on my new blog! I hope to use this space to share awesome outfits I see and wear, talk about weird life things, my obsessions and some things I think are awesome.?

?

So Chicago was crazy rainy today. I couldn’t believe how bad it was. I just saw the news and traffic so was bad that people were still trying to get home at 10:00 p.m. That’s insane! I was supposed to go get my nails painted and I didn’t because the rain was so bad! I’ll just paint them myself tomorrow I guess.?

?

Anyways, this isn’t much of a first post but I will have a great one next time! I may even have photos…?
